Sealant Equipment & Engineering Inc. (Plymouth, Mich., U.S.A.) has introduced the Servo-Ribbon Applicator (SRA), a new concept in dispense-valve applicator tools for epoxies, polyurethanes, silicones and other pumpable materials. Designed for fixed, automated or robotic applications with shaped-orifice fluid nozzles (e.g., slotted-ribbon tip, fan-spray tip or a side-outlet extruded-bead tip), the applicator combines an AC Servo-Motor and fluid-dispense valve that robotically position the valve's tip at the correct angle to deliver a precise ribbon-shaped material pattern. While following the bead path, the SRA valve turns the dispense tip without turning the fluid-dispense valve, improving the valve's reach, material-flow rate, tip-speed and cycle time while increasing the service life of robot wrists, hoses and cables.
