Beckwood Press Co. (St. Louis, Mo.), after more than a year of development work, has introduced a new system for the dispensing of ultrahigh-viscosity polymers. Based on the servo motion control technology (pat. pend.) used in the company’s existing Accu-Flex press technology, the dispensing system uses two large, independent dispensing cylinders and achieves reportedly precise volume displacement by controlling the rate of plunger (piston) travel. Cycle parameters allow the operator to establish a cumulative volume payout based on a fixed ratio between the two dispensing cylinders. The system was designed to dispense highly abrasive materials and can electrically heat the cylinder contents to 250°F/121°C.
