Telene (Drocourt, France), a new company formed as the result of the sale by Lubrizol Corp. of its Telene resins business to Rimtec Corp. of Japan, markets high-purity dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) resins to reaction injection molding (RIM) customers. The company's new fiber-filled resin formulation, considered a breakthrough by the company, exhibits less shrinkage and increased rigidity compared to unfilled resin and reportedly has a lower density than a glass-filled SMC. Customer parts are typically highly impact-resistant molded parts for agricultural, heavy equipment and truck markets.
