Seco Tools (Troy, Mich.) displayed at JEC Americas 2014 its new line of Feedmax drills for composites machining, featuring specific point geometry optimized for different types of materials such as honeycomb and stacked carbon fiber composite and metal laminates. These drills can be supplied with diamond-like coating (DLC) or polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tips and also with coolant holes. Seco also highlighted its new Jabro JC840 and JC845 solid-carbide end mills providing double helix compression technology for reduced delamination when machining sandwiched/stacked materials. Both are offered with DURA coating and the JC845 offers enhanced chip splitters for increased micro-chip evacuation.
