Amorim Cork Composites (Mozelos VFR, Portugal, and Trevor, Wis.) exhibited products at JEC Europe 2013 made from natural cork, including ALUCORK, a sandwich panel with natural cork core and aluminum skins for floor panels in trains and other mass transit vehicles. The company says the advantages of cork sandwich panels include acoustic insulation and vibration damping, low thermal conductivity and a smaller environmental footprint than other common cored products. Also available is CORECORK, made of cork core and glass fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) skins, for sidewall panels and ceiling solutions.
