Imaginant Inc.’s (Pittsford, N.Y.) new trademarked mP501A PELT, a nondestructive ultrasonic thickness gauge, is capable of measuring as many as five coated layers simultaneously on virtually any composite or plastic substrate. Measurements for individual layers and total thickness are made directly on production pieces, eliminating the need for specially prepared samples or potentially unreliable witness panels. The gauge offers users single-point measurement and batch mode capability. Data can be transferred to and from the gauge, using the supplied Windows applications software.
