Phoenix Inspection Systems Ltd. (Warrington, UK), manufacturer of ultrasonic non-destructive testing scanners and transducers for the inspection of composite materials, is featuring three products in its CAMX exhibit. R-Evolution is a hand-held ultrasonic array probe housed in a lightweight, water-filled roller, delivering fast immersion-quality C-scan inspections. A durable, thin tire allows high-frequency probes, up to 10 MHz, to deliver excellent near-surface resolution, enabling the inspection of thin components. Tracer is a freehand scanning solution that provides X-Y positions for C-scan inspections without the constraints of a scanning frame in difficult-to-access areas. The low-cost, lightweight system can be carried to the inspection site and is said to be simple to set up. It is ideal for use with linear phased array technology to provide fast, large-area coverage. The system consists of just two wire encoders units with multiple mounting options, a probe-holding C-Clamp and an inline interface box to calculate and output sub-millimeter positional data. Wrap-It offers a fast and effective way to inspect complex curves and radii in composite components. This flexible ultrasonic phased-array tool can be wrapped around a curved surface and can operate on concave and convex geometries. Its conformable ultrasonic phased-array transducer is housed in a rubber enclosure formed to the nominal curvature of the component. It self-adjusts to changing geometry.
