VISTAGY Inc. (Waltham, Mass.) has release version 5.0 of its FiberSIM software. New features include an Advanced Composite Engineering Environment that automates many of the repetitive design, simulation and manufacturing tasks peculiar to working with composites. Additionally, the program offers zone-based design, for defining laminate specifications and requirements, generating zone transition and ply boundaries, generating variable offset surfaces, and "smart" darting and splicing. The company expects the new tools to reduce user potential for error, speed up the design process and leave engineers free to focus on design innovation, process selection, and part quality.
