ESI Group (Chicago, Ill.) has released PAM-QUIKFORM for CATIA V5, a fiber simulation and analysis program designed for integration with the popular CAD program, CATIA V5 Composites Design, from Dassault Systèmes (Paris, France). PAM-QUIKFORM is a simulation tool that predicts deformation of reinforcements in composite parts during manufacturing. Algorithms capture the specific deformation mechanisms occurring in unidirectional draping, such as intraply sliding or fiber-spreading. The software computes the flat pattern of the laminate, data that can be exported to nesting and cutting machines. Integration with CATIA V5 means simulations can be directly performed on laminate definitions built in CATIA V5 Composites Design.
