Kotem Technologies (Rochester, N.Y.), recently enhanced to its SmartFit 3D best-fitting and analysis software (currently in use on the Airbus A380; see photo). The software inputs part measurements gathered by common metrology systems and troubleshoots/optimizes machining and assembly processes by assessing profile tolerances on complex surfaces, suggesting correctives by way of simulations and solving part misalignment/dislocation problems. The newest version has improved visualization and data control, but simplifies use with a redesigned graphical user interface (GUI) via the new SmartFit Model (SFM) file format, which contains the original model and all the subsequent changes.
