YLA and CCS Composites receive AS9100B, ISO9001/2000 certifications

YLA and its CCS Composites division have now been registered to the ISO9001:2000 and AS9100B standards.

YLA Inc. (Benicia, Calif.) and its CCS Composites division announced that their Quality systems have now been registered to the ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100B standards. Both companies had existing systems that were compliant with ISO 9001:1994.

Both registrations were completed in only eight months without any findings, an accomplishment that occurs in a small percentage of company registrations. The AS9100B registration is based on ISO 9001:2000, but with more than 75 additional requirements specific to aircraft/aerospace. "To have completed this Quality program so quickly demonstrates a high degree of teamwork across the two companies,"said Chris Breller, quality manager for YLA. "To have passed the registration audits with no issues is extremely rare.”

For YLA and CCS to share a Quality system, the key has been to maintain commonality of systems but also tailor the program to each organization's specific requirements. "Our companies have been working in synchronicity and will continue to optimize our Quality standards to ensure the needs of our customers and our companies in the future,"said Samuel Sher, director of business development of YLA.

The YLA Quality system has also been audited and approved by all major aerospace primes and sub-contractors and has received successful ISO 9001 certification with EU contractors. YLA has been recognized by several of its customers for its Quality standards with awards: NGST has honored the company with its Quality Capability Evaluation Award and its most recent Gold Supplier Award. YLA also has the distinction of being one of only 1 percent of NGST suppliers to receive the Gold Supplier honor and their only composite material supplier to have ever been chosen for this award. YLA is also the recipient of the Boeing Q100 Supplier Quality Recognition Award, of which less than 1 percent of its suppliers receive.

YLA, Inc. develops and manufactures innovative, high performance composite materials for extreme temperature and environmental exposure. The world's largest manufacturers of aerospace, satellite, aircraft, naval/marine structures and other major industries rely on YLA to develop and manufacture their precise advanced composite formulations.
