Jean Herbert, chief, Fibers & Material Physics Division of the Warfighter Science, Technology & Applied Research Directorate, and Facilitator for the Natick Soldier RD&E Center High Performance Fiber Facility, will speak at the High-Performance Fibers 2009 conference, Nov. 17-18 at the Doubletree Guest Suites Historic Charleston Hotel.
CompositesWorld, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, has announced that Jean Herbert, chief, Fibers & Material Physics Division of the Warfighter Science, Technology & Applied Research Directorate, and Facilitator for the Natick Soldier RD&E Center High Performance Fiber Facility, will speak at the High-Performance Fibers 2009 conference, which will be held Nov. 17-18 at the Doubletree Guest Suites Historic Charleston Hotel. This year’s conference co-chairs will be Dana Granville, senior materials engineer at the Weapons & Materials Research Directorate of Army Research Laboratory (AMSRD), and Scott Northrup, Global Director of New Business Development at AGY.
The High Performance Fiber Facility’s (HPFF) mission is to develop novel fibers, textiles and fiber composites for warfighters and first responders. The facility will combine NSRDEC, academia and industry expertise in novel fiber/textile technology to invent and rapidly transition new optical, electronic, high strength, flame retardant and reactive materials. Herbert will overview future R&D in textile and composites; partnering and applied R&D efforts; as well as describe some of the research scale manufacturing and analytical capabilities at the facility.
