TPI Composites (Scottsdale, AZ, US) is planning a new wind blade manufacturing facility in Izmir, Turkey. At full production, the planned facility is expected to double the volume of wind blades manufactured by TPI in Turkey.

In 2014, TPI Composites announced that it has acquired the remaining 25% interest in its joint venture wind blade operation in Izmir. TPI launched the business in 2012 with a local partner ALKE ÎNŞAAT and has grown the operation into the largest wind blade manufacturer in the region. TPI has invested more than $35 million to fully capitalize that Turkey operation, including a complete upgrade to its 355,000-square-foot building. TPI is currently producing blades for GE and Nordex.

“TPI is excited to expand its global footprint and to grow its support of its customers and the strong wind markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa,” said Steve Lockard, president and CEO of TPI Composites.
