Carbon fiber reinforcements manufacturer Sigmatex (Runcorn, U.K.) on May 5 announced the opening of its new facility in Shanghai, China’s commercial capital. The new 36,000-ft²/3,344m² facility is in the Jinshan District, which is the center of the economic zone covering Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Zhoushan, and the hub of Yangtze Delta Area. This announcement is a continuation of Sigmatex’s global strategy of expansion and investment in manufacturing equipment and facilities to serve customers worldwide.

Anticipating significant growth in the use of carbon fiber composites for domestic application within China, Sigmatex highlighted the need to increase the supply of its products into this growing market and has set up a dedicated manufacturing facility in China.

In other Sigmatex news, Sigmatex High Technology Fabrics Inc. has announced the appointment of Jonah Jimenez as president. Jimenez comes to Sigmatex with more than 25 years experience in carbon fiber composites in both the U.Ss and Europe. He will report to Scott Tolson, CEO of the Sigmatex global businesses.
