San Diego, CA, June 14, 2013 – San Diego Composites Inc. (SDC, San Diego, Calif., USA) reported recently that it has acquired a 60-inch diameter by 35-ft long (1,524 mm by 10.7m) filament winder and a 40-ft/12.2m walk-in oven (500°F/260°C).

The equipment joins SDC’s other in-house capabilities for production of filament wound components, including a second McClean Anderson filament winder 30 inches in diameter by 12 ft long (762mm by 3.7m), a product-ready modular winding machine — which accommodates automated hoop winding of toroidal tanks (diameters ranging from 6 inches/152 mm to 28 inches/3,251 mm) — and two walk-in ovens, 500°F/260°C and 800°F/427°C). SDC says it has the equipment in house for production capacity of more than 1,000 filament wound parts per year.
