RocTool (Le Bourget du Lac, France) says its Cage System for fast heating and fast cooling of molds for composites applications has been adapted for plastic injection molding, which the company says could help produce thin parts using 30 to 50 percent less pressure. RocTool says it had planned to launch the injection molding product in 2010 but moved up the introduction following new technological developments. The company says it has molded a 1-mm/0.04 inch thick prototype part using a material that is normally difficult to mold at less than 2.5 mm/0.1 inch. RocTool is targeting automotive parts (panel work and interior), TV and computer accessories, telephones and other thin-wall parts.
