Reichhold announces price increase on polyesters and vinyl esters

Reichhold will increase prices on all unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins as of April 14.

Reichhold, Inc. (Research Triangle Park, N.C.) announced price increases on March 17 of $ 0.07/lb on all unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins sold in North America for the composites industry. This increase is effective for all orders shipped on or after April 14.

"Unprecedented crude oil prices have driven up the costs of many of the primary feedstocks used to produce raw materials for unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins,"said Al Naser, Reichhold vice president of sales, Composites North America. "In addition to crude oil now routinely trading in excess of $90 per barrel and more recently over $100 per barrel, other costs have also escalated to the point where the sum of added costs can no longer be absorbed,"Naser continued. "Despite the softness in the North American economies, strong global demand for many of these petrochemical feedstocks has continued to place upward pressure on pricing,"Naser added.

"Reichhold is making every effort to limit the impact of raw material and energy costs upon product pricing, and appreciates the understanding of its customers,"Naser said. "We continue to invest in research and development, alternative materials, and manufacturing process improvements to add value for our customers and increase their competitiveness in the markets they serve,"he concluded.
