Quatro adds OOA processing

Quatro Composites has added out-of-autoclave (OOA) thermoplastic composite molding to its core manufacturing competencies, for items such as structural brackets for aircraft interior applications.

Quatro Composites (Orange City, Iowa) has added out-of-autoclave (OOA) thermoplastic composite molding to its core manufacturing competencies, for items such as structural brackets for aircraft interior applications. Says Doug Roberts, national accounts manager, “The large-scale airframe manufacturers have launched a metal-to-composite conversion initiative to reduce weight in small parts, such as interior brackets. Thermoplastic composites offer the potential for weight reduction at an affordable cost while meeting aircraft interior environmental requirements.” The company also announced that it has become a technology partner in developing and manufacturing composite components using OOA processes for Insitu Inc.’s (Bingen, Wash.) next-generation unmanned aircraft system (UAS), through Quatro’s Technical Development Center, located in Poway, Calif.
