Premier Composite Technologies (PCT, Dubai), a global supplier of lightweight advanced composite structures, is celebrating its 5th anniversary, having set up in Dubai to serve the architectural and marine markets in 2006.

PCT was founded by a team of three, including managing director Hannes Waimer, with the aim of supplying bespoke engineered lightweight composite structures into the Middle Eastern architectural and marine market. Today, the company works
closely with a number of European architects including SL Rasch, Snohetta and Foster + Partners, has grown to more than 670 people, and has evolved into building the largest clock tower in the world as well as production race boats, including the FARR 400.

PCT celebrated the 5th anniversary with a company celebration for all staff around the test construction of the Dokaae Tower’s 23m/75-ft composite Hilal, which will be placed on the top of the Dokaae Tower — the largest clock tower in the world.

PCT has supplied the uppermost 370m/1,214 ft of the 601m/1,972-ft tower, a construction that involves more than 60,000m2/645,835 ft2 of composite cladding. This includes four epoxy glass fiber clock faces, two of which measure 43m/141 ft in diameter, as well as the 23m/75-ft carbon clock hands and the 23m self-supporting carbon Hilal.

Says Waimer, “Over the past five years, PCT has seen tremendous growth at an incredibly fast pace. This is just the start. As we move forward, we are looking more closely at business development, R&D, new technology and new machinery that will help us to ramp up production more efficiently. As the benefits of working with composite materials become understood, more and more opportunities are presenting themselves. This is a very exciting time.”
