Soliant LLC (Lancaster, S.C.) says its Fluorex Paintfilm has been selected for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara front and rear bumper covers. Soliant estimates the program will include 50,000 parts per year. The recyclable Fluorex Paintfilm product is a paintless technology that provides a high-gloss Class A finish with reportedly good stone and chip resistance, weather resistance and enhanced impact resistance. For the Jeep application, a bright silver metallic thermoplastic paintfilm is being supplied as a thick sheet laminate for thermoforming. Use of the film eliminates the need for traditional painting steps. The film is adaptable for use with a variety of resins and processes, including extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding and compression molding.
