Atlas Composites (Ilkeston, Derbyshire, U.K.) reports that it has appointed Andrew Clarke to the position of quality systems manager. Clarke will succeed John Davie, who joined Atlas Composites in October 2001 and will retire at the end of May. Atlas Composites managing director Shaun Moloney says, “To maintain our position as one of the U.K.’s most accredited and trusted composite manufacturers Andrew will oversee our current AS9100 Rev C Quality Management System as well our continued drive towards SC21 Bronze recognition.”

AGC Aerospace & Defense (Marina, Calif.) announced on April 18 that Integrated Composites Inc. has recently completed a BSI Assured Limited audit and earned the AS9100 Rev C certification, awarded for the improvement of product quality and cost reduction in the aviation and defense manufacturing industry. The new revision to the AS9100 audit program is a strenuous assessment and evaluation process that is challenging for companies seeking the esteemed certification. Integrated Composites Inc. passed its audit without any significant findings from the auditor. The AS9100 certification recognizes the company’s strategic focus on supplier management, ontime delivery, product conformity and risk management.

TPI Composites Inc. (Scottsdale, Ariz., USA), a global supplier of wind turbine blades and other composite structures, has named Michael D. Picchi to be its chief financial officer. Picchi has served as TPI’s interim CFO since October of 2011. Prior to joining TPI, Picchi held the positions of CFO, international president, and board member at Comverge Inc., a provider of energy management solutions. Picchi served as Comverge’s CFO during the company’s successful IPO in 2007. Earlier in his career, Picchi held senior finance and operations roles at publicly traded organizations including PRG-Schultz International and AirGate PCS Inc., a Sprint PCS wireless affiliate. He began his career as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand LLP.
