New composites seminar to be held in Columbia

The composites seminar, April 23 to 25, allows the Latin American Composite Materials Assn. (ALMACO) to establish a presence in Columbia.

The Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO) and Andercol SA (Altamira, Mexico) will promote, in Medellín, Colombia, the first International Seminar on Composite Materials. Between April 23 and 25, approximately 150 people will attend the theoretical and practical presentations on raw materials and processes involving composites.

“The seminar will help us to introduce ALMACO to major companies in Colombia and thus
arouse the interest for the establishment of an office of the association in the country,” said Gilmar Lima, president. ALMACO, with head office located in Brazil, already has an operation in Chile. “We intend to create ALMACO Mexico by the end of 2013.”

Subsidiary of the Colombian conglomerate Inversiones Mundial SA, Andercol manufactures
various chemical intermediates – polyester resins, for example – used by the construction, coating, textile and food industries, among others.
