Specialty Products Co. (Corona, Calif.), maker of HONEY WAX, KANTSTIK, RESIN RELEASE and STYRID products, has been acquired by Chempak Solutions (Corona, Calif.), also a manufacturer of waxes and polishes. "The Composite Industry requires focus and being part of a company that concentrates its efforts in this market is why I am exited about this transition." says Ernie Ballester, national sales manager at Specialty Products.

Sikes Composites Corp. (Wetumpka, Ala.), a manufacturer of fiberglass composite components for a broad range of industries, has been named Outstanding Supplier by one of its top customers. Mike Gayford of Sikes Composites received the award on behalf of the firm from Altec Industries (Birmingham, Ala.) at a special event on Sept. 24 in St. Joseph, Mo. Sikes Composites was among only four firms from Altec’s 350-company supplier base to receive this award. Sikes Composites employs 18 people and changed ownership last year; new owners are Curtis Howard and Gayford.

The Ohio Soybean Council (OSC, Worthington, Ohio) and the Ohio Bioproducts Innovation Center (OBIC), in conjunction with Polymer Ohio, recently launched an initiative that will accelerate the innovation and commercialization of soy-based industrial products. Funded in part by OSC and the soybean checkoff, the Cell to Sell Soy Technology program is a Web-based portfolio management and communications system that leverages resources to address unmet market needs. It also provides a credible, timely source of information to assist Ohio agricultural, manufacturing and research collaborators in the commercial development and use of soy-based products.
