METYX looks to expand

METYX Composites is expanding its Istanbul, Turkey, headquarters to provide more manufacturing and warehouse space.

METYX Composites (Tuzla, Istanbul, Turkey) is expanding its headquarters in a three-part plan that has already begun.

The first of the expansion efforts was an additional warehousing facility, which was completed at the end of 2007. To offset space constraints, the second part of the expansion effort was the purchase of new land adjacent to the company’s existing 22,000m2/236,800 ft2 headquarters.

METYX will construct on this land a new and larger facility, which is the third part of the expansion. It will be a two-story, 8,000m2/86,100 ft2 building scheduled to be constructed in 2009. This new facility will be used for additional production lines, warehousing, offices and laboratories. It will also include a dedicated space with tight environmental control for the production of carbon reinforcements. "We are working with one of the country’s most renowned architects, Mr. Cengiz Uyanusta, on this project,"stated Erol Ustunel, president of METYX.

"Our factory expansion in 2005 was built to meet requirements for projected growth through 2010. However, in 2007 we came to the happy realization that our growth had exceeded our projections. We will continue to expand our headquarters as a result,"continued Ustunel.
