On September 26, the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) presented Matt Chambers, Marine Concepts and Design Concepts (Cape Coral, Florida) president, with the 2016 ACMA Hall of Fame Award. This award is given annually to influential leaders of the composites industry at ACMA's Membership Awards and Recognition Ceremony at CAMX.
"It is very important for ACMA to acknowledge and thank the people who have selflessly gone above and beyond to contribute to the vitality and growth of the composites industry," said Tom Dobbins, ACMA president. "Award winners have been prominent leaders in the composites industry for decades."
Chambers is distinguished in the composites industry, serving on national, state and local levels to promote small business composite manufacturing, industry awareness and policy changes. He has, says ACMA, contributed substantially to the success of both his business and the welfare of the industry. With more than 26 years of experience and leadership, says ACMA, he is well known for his strategic management style and numerous contributions and impact on the composites industry. Chambers has been with Marine Concepts and Design Concepts (formerly known as JRL Ventures Inc./Marine Concepts) since 2006.
As president of the Southwest Florida Manufacturers Association, he won the 2013 Small Business Ambassador Award for Manufacturing from Florida Governor Rick Scott. Under his leadership, JRL Ventures won 2010 Manufacturer of the Year from the Manufacturers Association of Florida. Chambers is a recipient of the Brunswick-US Marine, Leadership Award, as well as the 1995 USA Today Rochester Institute of Technology Leader Award. He has also served on ACMA's Board of Directors and as the chairman of ACMA's Government Affairs Committee.
"It is an honor to be presented with the ACMA's 2016 Hall of Fame Award. I am proud to be a part of such an outstanding and prestigious organization which supports manufacturers through education, promotion and government representation," says Matt Chambers.
