Materia introduces catalyst-enabled thermoset at WINDPOWER

Materia's presentation at WINDPOWER 2010 will highlight its new catalyst-enabled pDCPD thermoset resin for wind turbine blade applications; it is being offered as an alternative to epoxy, vinyl ester and polyester.

Materia Inc. (Pasadena, Calif.) presented a paper at the WINDPOWER show in May on its new catalyst-enabled pDCPD (polydicyclopentadiene) thermoset resin for wind turbine blade applications. Materia’s resin technology provides a competitive alternative in composite rotor blade structures to existing epoxy, vinyl ester and polyester resin systems. The new resin system reportedly has several laminate performance and processing advantages over traditional epoxy resins, while providing lower costs and a reduced carbon footprint.
