Effective March 1, 2015, Mark Kawamura has been named president and chief executive Officer of Zoltek Companies Inc., based in St. Louis, MO, US.
Kawamura, previously the company's president and chief operating officer, succeeds Zsolt Rumy, who founded the company in 1975 and entered the carbon fiber manufacturing business in 1988. During his tenure, Rumy pioneered the development of a low-cost, commercial-grade carbon fiber product, securing Zoltek’s position as the largest supplier of industrial-grade carbon fiber in the world.
In his new role, Kawamura will oversee all operations of Zoltek Companies Inc. and its subsidiaries, while Rumy will maintain his position as a member of the company's Board of Directors. “Mr. Rumy’s leadership and vision have been invaluable to the success of Zoltek,” asserts Kawamura. “His support ensured a smooth transition process, which can be seen in all aspects of the business, and we look forward to his continued support as a Zoltek Board Member.”
