LM Wind Power opens Texas service center

LM Wind Power Service & Logistics service is created, with service center in Abilene, Texas, near the nation's highest concentration of wind turbine installations.

LM Wind Power Service & Logistics (Kolding, Denmark) on May 24 announced the opening of its North American regional service center in Abilene, Texas. This center will serve as the southern operations base for its wind turbine blade repair business with wind farm installations in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico.

LM Wind Power Service & Logistics is part of the LM Wind Power Group which comprises also LM Wind Power Blades (former LM Glasfiber), a market leader in the wind power industry supplying rotor solutions to numerous wind turbine manufacturers in all main wind markets internationally. The newly created LM Wind Power Service & Logistics business offers inspection, repair, overhaul, preventive maintenance as well as blade logistics covering the full spectrum of service to wind turbine owners anywhere in the world.

VP, Service Americas, Robert Burger, explains, "The new service center in Abilene, Texas, is one of LM Wind Power's six fully staffed North American service centers. More than 90 percent of the installed base of North American wind turbines are within less than eight hours' drive for our skilled technicians from these six locations. This enables us to provide our customers with shorter response times and reduced mobilization fees for service calls."

The Abilene/Sweetwater area has the nation's highest concentration of wind turbine installations, making Abilene an ideal location for the company's regional blade service business.
