LM Glasfiber (Kolding, Denmark) announced on March 16 that it has signed a large blade supply agreement with Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co. Ltd. (Urumqi, Xinjiang). As a result of the agreement, LM Glasfiber will establish its third blade factory in China. The deal extends a strategic collaboration initiated by LM Glasfiber and Goldwind at the beginning of 2007, and it involves a significant increase in shipments of blades to support more than 1,100 MW of Goldwind’s 1.5-MW wind turbines that will be built from 2009 to 2012. The new blade factory will be located in Qin Huang Dao in northeast China, and it is designed to become LM Glasfiber’s largest Chinese facility. The first phase is expected to be commissioned in fourth quarter 2009.
