Barrday Advanced Material Solutions (Cambridge, Ontario, Canada), the parent company of Lewcott Corp. (Millbury, Mass.), announced on April 12 that it is reorganizing the company into three separate operating divisions. The three will focus on the protective products, composite materials and renewable energy markets. The new operating structure is intended to help the company support more directly and efficiently its targeted customers’ needs, says Terry Butryn, Barrday’s president.

The first of the three operating divisions, Protective Solutions, will be located with the parent company in Cambridge, Ontario, headed by Tony Fiorenzini. Protective Solutions will supply advanced ballistic materials for body armor, helmets, vehicle armor, antiballistic plates, and stab/spike protection.

In the second division, Composite Solutions, Lewcott’s Michael Buck has been named president of the business unit. Barrday also announced that Lewcott Corp., a company designation derived from the names of the company’s two founders, Gene Lewis and Harold Cotton, will be changed to Barrday Composite Solutions. The unit will supply high-performance structural and interior materials for aircraft, marine, rail-transit and a variety of other industrial and commercial markets, for products that include ablatives, carbon/carbon composites, radomes and antennae.

The third business unit, Barrday Energy Solutions, will use the company’s expanding material and processing capabilities to satisfy needs in the renewable (wind, solar and tidal) energy market. The unit’s product spread includes a broad range of core materials, coatings, resins, and sealants. In a dual role, Butryn will serve as the interim president of the Energy Solutions unit.
