Startup company Convergent Composites (Philadelphia, Pa.), a new “knowledge-based” industry consultancy formed by Bob Lacovara, is being positioned to provide “composites management, manufacturing optimization, regulatory compliance, composites education and training and forensic services.” Lacovara left his long-time post with the American Composites Manufacturers Assn. (ACMA, Arlington, Va.) to form the new firm. In 1989, Lacovara merged a previous consultancy with ACMA to form the latter’s Technical Services group. As its technical director, he created, among others, the Certified Composites Technician (CCT) program.
