Krauss-Maffei hosts Tech Day at its Michigan location

Krauss-Maffei Corp., the US subsidiary of the KraussMaffei Group with headquarters in Florence, KY, US, hosted its first Tech Day at the company’s Brighton, MI, location on May 18th. The event was the first of its kind at the company’s Michigan location and welcomed more than 100 guests.

“Tech Day was a great success. The turnout was more than expected,” says Michael Bimmermann, general manager of reaction process machinery for Krauss-Maffei Corporation.

A full agenda of technical papers were presented, featuring discussions of new technologies as well as emerging trends in plastics processing. Some of the topics covered included the following:

  • The new KraussMaffei pultrusion technology.
  • HP-RTM/T-RTM (high-pressure/thermoplastic resin transfer molding) carbon fiber manufacturing.
  • Advancements in robotic foam parts de-flashing.
  • Mold release free foaming.
  • Injection molding technology trends, including FiberForm, ColorForm, and SkinForm.
  • Using twin-screw extruders for plastics recycling applications.

Krauss-Maffei also provided live demonstrations of its reaction process machinery, injection molding, extrusion, and automation technology. Featured systems included

  • EcoStar and RimStar metering equipment for polyurethane and other reactive materials.
  • RPM tooling technology.
  • An example of the new all-electric PX Series injection molding machines (PX 80-250).
  • A CX 200-750 injection molding machine, with integrated robot, running a RocTool mold.
  • An industrial robot (IR) training cell.
  • A ZE 25A twin-screw extruder, demonstrating a re-pelletizing TPO regrind application.
