Knight & Carver endorses "Pickens Plan"

Wind blade manufacturer Knight & Carver has officially endorsed a proposal by oil magnate T. Boone Pickins that the U.S. more substantially embrace development of alternative energy sources, and infrastructure to support it.

Knight & Carver Wind Group (National City, Calif.), which provides repair, service and fabrication of wind blades around the U.S., has announced its full endorsement of the “Pickens Plan,” the renewable energy strategy led by Texas oil magnate T. Boone Pickens.

“We’ve come to a monumental decision-making time in our nation’s history,” said Knight & Carver president and CEO Sampson A. Brown. “The decisions we make regarding energy production and consumption over the next few years will determine our place in the world’s economy. As a country, we must advance wind-energy technology and implementation as soon as possible.

“Now is the time to embrace Mr. Pickens’ comprehensive and enlightened energy plan,” added Brown. “We salute him for his courage, commitment and leadership and go on record in support of his plan.”

The Pickens Plan calls on President-elect Barack Obama and the 111th Congress to “enact an energy plan that reduces our foreign oil dependence by at least 30 percent within the next 10 years.” Such a plan, Pickens has declared, must include: Proven American technology and resources; the development of new energy sources; and the expansion and modernization of the national electrical grid to transport renewable energy to homes and businesses.

The Pickens Plan calls on the President-elect and Congress to work together to enact an Energy Independence Plan within the first 100 days of the new administration.
