COMPOSITESWORLD, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, has announced that the High Performance Fibers 2008 conference will be held Oct. 28-29, and that that Carbon Fiber 2008 conference will be held Dec. 8-10, 2008. Both will be held at the Charleston Marriott Hotel in Charleston, S.C.
Carbon Fiber 2008 is designed for executives from leading fiber suppliers, end users, fiber converters, prepreggers, and composites parts manufacturers to discuss the current supply and demand situation for carbon fiber as well as the future prospect for growth of new carbon fiber composite applications, given the continuing tight supply situation for some grades of fiber. More than 140 marketing executives, business development specialists, technical directors and industry analysts attended last year's event in Washington, D.C., where they explored the regional outlook for traditional markets, such as aerospace, commercial aviation and sporting goods, as well as the growing demand from industrial markets for carbon fiber, such as wind energy, construction, CNG and hydrogen storage tanks, marine and automotive applications. Conference presentations on Dec. 9-10 will cover market opportunities, new technology, and production processes to streamline manufacturing and lower costs. In addition, there will be two preconference seminars on Dec. 8 focusing on the latest market developments and technology, as well as numerous networking opportunities at catered receptions, roundtable luncheons, and refreshment breaks.
High Performance Fibers 2008 is designed for executives from leading manufacturers of high-performance fibers, such as p-aramids (Kevlar® and Twaron®), and high-performance polyethylenes (HPPE, Spectra® and Dyneema®), end users, such as OEMs, DoD and other research labs, and composites parts manufacturers. Discussions will cover the diverse business opportunities and technical challenges that lie ahead in high-growth applications such as body and vehicular armor, high-performance rope and cordage and sporting goods, as well as in the blast-resistance, fire resistance, marine, aviation and aerospace markets. Co-chairing the conference once again will be Dana Granville, Weapons and Materials Research Directorate, Army Research Laboratory (AMSRL). More than 100 marketing executives, business development specialists, technical directors and industry experts attended last year's event in Washington, D.C. where they explored the latest market trends by application and region, as well as the most recent technical information on ballistic and high temperature fiber applications. There will be one preconference seminar the morning of Oct. 28 to focus on the latest market developments and technology, as well as numerous networking opportunities at a catered reception, roundtable luncheon, and refreshment breaks.
