Hexion Specialty Chemicals (Columbus, Ohio) announced on April 23 that it intends to shift production of certain epoxy products within its global manufacturing operations.

“Production of certain products will be regrouped within the Hexion manufacturing plants to improve production utilization and efficiency,” said Paul Barletta, vice-president, Global Manufacturing for the epoxy resins business. “Hexion will continue to use equivalent, if not the same, raw materials and manufacturing processes for these products and will maintain products’ sales specifications,” Barletta said. Only certain products will be affected, and no products are being discontinued. The company will notify in advance any customer whose product will be made in a new location and will be working closely with customers to meet their approval requirements.

“In this difficult economic environment, Hexion continues to ensure we meet our customers’ needs for high-quality epoxy resin products. Additionally, Hexion must maintain a supportable cost structure while we deliver the products our customers know and trust,” said Paul Langemeier, global marketing director. “The flexibility of our manufacturing grid, combined with our standard global manufacturing processes, enables us to adjust our production to meet both the current and future needs of our customers around the world.”
