Hexcel reportedly in talks to supply composites for Chinese jets

Carbon and glass fiber manufacturer Hexcel reportedly is in talks to with the Chinese to supply composites for use in a large commercial aircraft program.

Thomson Financial News reports that carbon fiber and glass fiber manufacturer Hexcel (Dublin, Calif.) is in early talks to supply composite materials for China's project to develop and manufacture large commercial jets, according to a senior executive of the company.

Thierry Merlot, a vice president for sales and marketing with the Hexcel group, told Thomson that the company had supplied a small quantity of composite materials to China's domestically developed ARJ21 regional jet and may supply materials for an extended version of the regional jet.
