Hexcel (Stamford, Conn.) congratulates Chantier CDK (La Foret Fouesnant, France), builder of the boats finishing first and second in the 2013 Vendee Globe solo around-the-world yacht race.  Both boats were built using Hexcel’s trademarked HexPly prepreg and HexWeb honeycombs.  First to finish was Frenchman François Gabart on MACIF who won the race in a record time, finishing in 78 days, two hours, 16 minutes, beating the previous record of 84 days and three hours set by Michel Desjoyeaux in 2009 (also in a boat built with Hexcel materials). Armel Le Cleac'h on Banque Populaire finished three hours later in second place.
