Forward Composites Ltd. launched in U.K.

Former Lola Composites colleagues Paul Jackson and Ed Collings will head up the new Forward Composites, to be located in a facility formerly used by Lola.

Forward Composites Ltd. (Huntingdon, U.K.) announced on April 12 that it has opened its doors for business. Spearheading the new company are former Lola Composites colleagues Paul Jackson as managing director and Ed Collings as technical director.

The new firm will operate from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire in the premises formerly used by Lola Composites, which features a full complement of plant and machinery, as well as extensive engineering and quality control systems. Forward Composites intends to acquire AS9100 Rev C accreditation.

Jackson has more than 25 years of composites experience, starting out as apprentice pattern maker and working his way up to commercial director. Commenting on the launch of the new company, he says, “We recognized at the start of this venture that its success would depend on the expertise and professionalism of our staff. We now have a workforce with the right blend of skills and experience to deliver high-quality products and offer an excellent service to our customers, offering end-to-end capability. There is a real buzz throughout the whole team and motivation is high to get Forward Composites to the top of our target industries: aerospace, defense, automotive, communications and motorsport. To this end we have a great head start as we have already won a UAV program.”

Fellow director Ed Collings has extensive experience doing design and analysis of composites structures in motorsport (including F1 and sports car), aerospace and defense. Collings says, “Forward Composites will use engineering excellence to create the best possible business solutions for our clients. This means that every project we take on will be designed to find the perfect balance between all relevant considerations: performance, engineering, efficiency of manufacture, delivery time, aesthetic qualities, cost and more.”
