Evonik Industries (Darmstadt, Germany) inaugurated its new $10 million manufacturing facility in Mobile, Ala. on Nov. 19, 2008. The new ROHACELL rigid polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam production plant, the first outside Europe, was built during the past 12 months, and will provide 26 new jobs. Gregor Hetzke, head of Evonik Industries’ performance polymers business unit, which includes ROHACELL, said the new plant is in keeping with a strategic decision by Evonik to bring its products closer to customers, thus reducing delivery times and enhancing customer service.
