About the role

This critical position provides expertise and knowledge in carbon fiber production and manufacturing including the operation and maintenance of the carbon fiber pilot line and single-tow line in Carbon Nexus.

This will include:

  • Ensuring the effective operation of the CF processing lines, including scheduling of projects on the lines, planning and arranging the staffing for operation of the lines
  • Providing expert advice on annual budgets, project costs and feasibility, and assist contract research clients, researchers and research students
  • Ensuring a high level of operator competence through regular training and competency development and compliance with EPA operating licenses and Export Control laws
  • Ensuring the operation and maintenance of the Quality Management System and achieve ongoing certifications to the levels agreed by the Carbon Nexus Management Committee

About you

  • Postgraduate degree in science or engineering
  • Extensive experience in managing operational and technical staff in the use of complex and potentially dangerous high-temperature manufacturing equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership of operational manufacturing teams, ideally in a shift-based production environment
  • Well-developed maintenance leadership skills
