DIAB (Laholm, Sweden) officially opened its new core manufacturing operation in Chennai, India in April. DIAB’s decision to manufacture in India was prompted by unprecedented Asian demand for the company’s structural core materials and the signing of a long-term supply agreement with one of DIAB’s major global customers, which has operations in that region. In addition to core production, the new facility also is equipped with the finishing equipment necessary to process core blocks into finished sheets, apply various finishing options and produce customer-specific core kits. In addition to the new Indian facility, DIAB has block production operations in Europe (Sweden and Italy), the U.S. and Asia. In addition the DIAB Group has a balsa production operation in Ecuador and standalone finishing/kitting operations in Australia, China, Lithuania and Thailand.
