DIAB announces infusion training courses
By Staff | March 17, 2008
Following the success and popularity of its Core Infusion Courses during 2007, DIAB Inc. (DeSoto, Texas) has announced the dates for the courses that it will be running in the U.S. during 2008.
In order to accommodate users who are new to the technology and those who have some experience, DIAB has created two courses. The first (Level 1) provides a detailed introduction to Core Infusion Technology. It includes classroom instruction and hands-on infusion training. Specifics that will be covered include manifold options, vacuum bagging techniques, materials selection and the infusion of an actual boat hull. Graduates of this course will be able to implement infusion in their facility for small parts and be qualified to take the advanced infusion course.
The advanced infusion course (Level 2) builds on the introductory course and will enable attendees to have a much greater understanding of infusion processing technology. Topics covered will include advanced infusion theory, flow modeling and manifold design of complex parts, advanced troubleshooting and personnel training. On completion, graduates will be able to confidently plan and undertake the infusion of more complex parts. As part of the course a complex boat deck will be infused.
The course dates are as follows:
Level 1 April 7-8 July 14-15 November 10-11
Level 2 April 9-10 July 16-17 November 12-13
Course dates are organized so that graduates can, if they prefer, follow on from the Level 1 directly to the advanced course. Course times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The courses will be held at DIAB’s Core Technology Center in DeSoto, Texas. This 10,000-ft2, purpose-designed facility comprises a lecture room, composite molding area, resin laboratory, reinforcement kitting area, machine shop and testing unit.
The number of people attending any course is restricted to a maximum of 15 (with an instructor to trainee ratio of 1:5) in order that everyone receives individual attention.
The courses are presented by members of DIAB’s Technical Services team who are heavily involved in infusion projects both large and small throughout North and South America – everything from 20 ft. fishing boats to 155 ft. megayachts.
The cost of each course is US $895. If both Level 1 and 2 are booked at the same time, the total cost is US $1,600. When an organization registers three people, a fourth person can attend for free. The fee includes all course materials, documentation, refreshments and lunches.
