Aircraft manufacturer selects FiberSIM software for composite design
VISTAGY, Inc. (Waltham, Mass.), the developer of engineering software that provides specialized design functionality to commercial CAD/PDM/PLM systems, today announced that AleniaAermacchi (Venegono, Italy), one of the world's most renowned jet aircraft manufacturers, has selected VISTAGY's FiberSIM(r) 5.1 software as its specialized composite design environment for the CATIA V5 CAD system. AleniaAermacchi engineers have used FiberSIM for more than two years on a variety of design projects and utilized the software to design, simulate and manufacture complex composite aircraft parts for commercial airliners.
AleniaAermacchi turned to VISTAGY to help automate its end-to-end product development process. Using FiberSIM software, AleniaAermacchi engineers will generate detailed documentation
early in the design phase, and efficiently share composites information and detail across the organization from within one application. AleniaAermacchi will utilize FiberSIM's zone-based design and new automated plybook capabilities to ensure products are designed and manufactured accurately, within specification, and meet the demanding deadlines of its current
aerospace design projects.

FiberSIM is a suite of software products, powered by VISTAGY's unique EnCapta(r) technology, that turns commercial CAD systems into tools specialized for designing and manufacturing composite parts. The software enables engineers to create a complete digital product definition of a
composite part within their 3D modeling environment. FiberSIM supports the entire product development process as well as flexible design methodologies for a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods. The software simulates how composite material deforms over complex curvature and generates manufacturing information including documentation, flat patterns, and data to drive downstream manufacturing equipment.
