Continental Structural Plastics (CSP, Troy, Mich.) announced on May 1 that it had signed an agreement to lease manufacturing floor space in Pouance, France. CSP says it also will purchase equipment from a composites manufacturer that was formerly located in that facility. The agreement is expected to help boost CSP’s existing global manufacturing and customer support capabilities.

“The Pouance acquisition improves CSP’s ability to provide our customers with exceptional global support in terms of manufacturing and service,” said Frank Macher, chairman and CEO of CSP. “This operation expands our global network, increases CSP’s manufacturing capacity and provides us with the opportunity to expand our customer base in Europe in the near future.”

The leased facility's useful space is reportedly 120,000 ft2 (11,000m2) and will accommodate six compression molding presses, 12 thermoplastic injection presses and supporting equipment. CSP has already begun its staffing efforts, and production is scheduled to start later this year.

For more than 40 years, Continental Structural Plastics (CSP) has provided leading-edge technologies in light-weight materials and composite solutions for the automotive, heavy truck, HVAC and construction industries. CSP holds more than 50 patents covering materials development and manufacturing processes in composite materials formulation, design and manufacturing technologies.
