Conference keynote to focus on fiber in ballistics

Tucker Norton, global technology manager at DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems, will be the keynote speaker at the High Performance Fibers Conference, Oct. 28-29 at the Charleston Marriott Hotel in Charleston, S.C.

COMPOSITESWORLD, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, as well as the COMPOSITESWORLD Weekly e-newsletter, is presenting the the High Performance Fibers Conference,  Oct. 28-29 at the Charleston Marriott Hotel in Charleston, S.C.

Keynote speaker at the event will be Tucker Norton, Ph.D, global technology manager at DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems. The tentative title of his presentation is "New high-performance fiber technologies for ballistic and thermal hazards." Tucker's speech will cover 40 years of fiber research at DuPont committed to helping protect law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders with science-based innovations such as flame-resistant fibers and advanced materials; and DuPont's continued commitment to innovation with two new innovative technologies, Kevlar XP and Nomex On Demand, a "smart" thermal liner technology that activates when protection is needed most.

Norton serves as global technology manager for the Ballistic Threat Protection segment of DuPont, where he leads a team of application developers for new product development and customer technical support. In his 10 years at DuPont, Tucker has worked in technology and Six Sigma leadership roles in diverse areas such as bio-processing for new materials, soy protein food production and nanofiber products for filtration applications.
