CompositesWorld Expo 2009 is less than a week away. Now is the time to reserve your room and register for the conference and expo.

A few rooms are still available. To reserve your room for your CompositesWorld Expo stay, call the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center at +1 847-303-4100 and mention code COPCOPA, or visit www.renaissanceschaumburg.com and enter the code COPCOPA.

The CompositesWorld Expo 2009 features a two-track conference (Sept. 28-29) and a two-day trade show (Sept. 29-30). The Introductory conference track will introduce those familiar with traditional materials — engineering industries, such as metalworking — to the properties of fiber-reinforced composites. Other principles covered will include CAD/CAM design and manufacturing with composites and the fabrication processes that work best for various designs, including compression and infusion molding; resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum-assisted RTM (VARTM), and light RTM (LRTM); prepreg with autoclave curing; and other fabrication processes.

The Advanced conference track will include an overview of finite element analysis (FEA) design and manufacturing software, such as CATIA and FiberSIM, and how it can be integrated into product development and tooling systems for advanced composite design and processing, including complex ply books, automated fiber placement (AFP) and automated tape laying (ATL) systems.

The expo features four on-floor keynotes: "20% Wind By 2030: The role of Industry, Government and Advanced Materials Technology," by Stephen Nolet, principal engineer and director of Innovation, TPI Composites; “Bridge in a Backpack – Rigidified Inflatable Composites for Bridge Construction and Other Infrastructure Opportunities," by Dr. Habib Dagher, director, Advanced Structures and Composites Center, University of Maine; "The Role of Composites in a Changing Automotive Landscape," by Jim deVries, Lightweight Materials Group, Manufacturing Systems Department, Ford Motor Co.; "Innovations for Aerospace Leadership," by Peter Wu, Ph.D., vice president/chief scientist, Spirit AeroSystems Inc.
