CompositesWorld has announced 2009 dates for its annual advanced fiber conferences. The Carbon Fiber 2009 conference will be held Dec. 9-11, 2009, at the new Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel (San Diego, Calif.). This international conference is designed for executives from leading fiber suppliers, end-users, fiber converters, prepreggers and composite parts manufacturers to discuss the current supply and demand situation as well as the prospects for growth of new carbon composite applications.

More than 145 marketing executives, business development specialists, technical directors and industry analysts attended last year’s event in Charleston, S.C. Participants explored the regional outlook for traditional markets, such as aerospace, commercial aviation and sporting goods, and identified growing demand from the “industrial” sector, including wind energy.

Conference presentations will cover market opportunities, new technology, and production processes that can streamline manufacturing and lower costs. In addition, there will be two preconference seminars on Dec. 8.
This year’s High-Performance Fibers 2009 conference returns to Charleston, S.C. on Nov. 17-18, 2009, at the Doubletree Guest Suites Historic Charleston Hotel. The event is designed for executives from leading manufacturers of high-performance fibers, as well as end-users (OEMs, research labs, government entities and composite parts manufacturers). More than 100 marketing executives, business development specialists, technical directors and industry experts are expected again at this year’s event. Discussion topics will include the diverse business opportunities and technical challenges that lie ahead in high-growth applications for p-aramids, high-performance polyethylenes, structural high-strength glass and other advanced fiber technologies in applications such as body and vehicular armor and related blast-resistant and fire-resistant products, as well as a wide range of applications in the marine, aerospace, sporting goods and high-performance rope and cordage markets. A preconference seminar the morning of Nov. 17 will focus on the latest market developments.

Attendees at both conferences will take advantage of numerous networking opportunities at catered receptions and roundtable luncheons.
