Chinese firm begins construction of carbon fiber facility

Ceramics manufacturer Sichuan Xinwanxing has begun construction of a 1,000-ton carbon fiber manufacturing facility in China.

Sichuan Xinwanxing (Group) Ceramics Co. Ltd. (Leshan, China) reports that it has begun construction of a 1,000-ton carbon fiber manufacturing facility in Leshan of Sichuan province, China. The type and quality of carbon fiber to be made was not reported.

With a total investment of RMB 1.2 billion ($175.5 million USD), the project occupies an area of 40 hectares and is expected to go on stream in December 2010.

After completion of the project, the sales revenue will be added by RMB 5.0 billion ($731.4 million USD) a year for the company.
