CDI (Century Design Inc., San Diego, Calif.), a global supplier of prepregging machinery and specialized composites processing equipment, has appointed Ted Hile as its director of sales. Hile will be responsible for the company’s sales and account management in North America and for new business development as well.

Hile joins CDI from General Plastics Mfg. Co. (Tacoma, Wash.), where he served as marketing manager. While there, his key achievements, according to CDI, included guiding capital investment project teams that raised productivity by 25 percent, and coordinating an aggressive product launch and nationwide channel marketing program that resulted in $28 million (USD) in new revenue.

Working with major aircraft and aerospace manufacturers developing new products and processes, Hile reportedly has secured more than $100 million in new business revenue from firms such as Boeing (Commercial Airplanes and Defence, Chicago, Ill.), Zodiac Aerospace (Marysville, Wash.), Heath Tecna (Bellingham, Wash.) and Alenia Aeronautica (Grottagile, Italy).

Complementing his sales experience with a MBA, Hile brings a wealth of expertise in business development strategies, says CDI, including the abilities to assess competitive advantages and align operations practice with ambitions for growth.

Commenting on his new role, Hile remarked, “With a 50-year legacy of serving customers with excellence, CDI is the global leader in composites processing equipment. It delights me to be joining the company at such an exciting time in its continuing delivery of tomorrow’s cost-effective composite processing solutions. There is a huge appetite for ‘on-demand prepreg,’ bringing substantial financial benefits, deriving from in-house production economies. Through listening to our customers needs, I’m seeking to help them achieve a sustainable competitive edge.”
