CompositesWorld, publisher of High-Performance Composites and Composites Technology magazines, as well as the CompositesWorld Weekly newsletter, continues to add to the agenda for its annual Carbon Fiber conference, Dec. 9-11 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., USA.
The newest speaker added to the lineup is Barrett Milenski, from ATK Aerospace in Clearfield, Utah, USA. Abstract: ATK has led the advancement of manufacturing of complex composite structures through innovative automation for more than 30 years. ATK is an originator of Advanced Fiber Placement (AFP) as well as Automated Stiffener Forming (ASF) technologies that have revolutionized commercial aircraft structure manufacturing. ATK is currently working to expand the use of advanced automation technologies into more structures such as stringers, frames, fan cases and spars. ATK is also working on combining AFP, ASF and Automated Tape Laying (ATL) technologies into a single flexible work cell known as a Dockable Gantry System (DGS). These technologies continue to expand the use of composite materials into more structures by improving part quality, and reducing fabrication time and production costs.
